About 8Examples Inc.

Building the right thing starts with agreeing what it is.

Most software does not fail in the building. It fails in the understanding. A team can ship exactly what was written and still ship the wrong thing, because the words meant something different to everyone who read them.

Sean Bennett founded 8Examples Inc. to answer the hardest question in building anything. Not how to build it, but what to build, and how to know that everyone involved actually agrees, before the work begins, while it is underway, and after it ships.

That agreement is usually left to chance. A conversation, a document, a hope that the picture in one person’s head matches the picture in another’s. 8Examples replaces the hope with a discipline: make the thing concrete, make the agreement visible, and keep both true as the work evolves.

The Problem We Solve

How do you figure out what should be built, and keep everyone on the same page?

It is easy to agree in the abstract and discover, months later, that no two people meant the same thing. The cost of that gap is not a rounding error. It is the project. So we work in concrete examples and shared models, where agreement can be seen, tested, and corrected on the spot rather than assumed.

The result is a shared picture that is true before a line is written, stays true while the work is built, and remains true after it ships. Everything we do reduces to that single aim.
