OpenClaw Alexa Skill privacy policy
This policy explains how 8Examples Inc. handles information when you use the OpenClaw Alexa Skill to send voice requests to your paired OpenClaw.
Effective and last updated: August 16, 2026
1. Who we are and scope
8Examples Inc. (“8Examples,” “we,” or “us”) is a corporation based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada and is the owner and operator of the OpenClaw Alexa Skill (the “Skill”). This policy applies to information the Skill and its bridge service process. It supplements the 8Examples website privacy policy and the OpenClaw privacy notice.
2. How the Skill works
When you invoke the Skill, Amazon converts your voice interaction into an Alexa request and sends that request to the 8Examples-operated bridge. The bridge associates the request with your paired OpenClaw, sends your requested task to that OpenClaw, and returns a short spoken response through Alexa. A task may continue in the background so you can later ask for its status or cancel it.
Amazon independently processes voice recordings, transcripts, device information, and Alexa account information under Amazon’s own policies and settings. 8Examples does not receive your Amazon password and does not control Amazon’s collection, retention, or use of Alexa data.
3. Information we collect and process
Depending on how you use the Skill, the bridge may process and retain:
- the pseudonymous Alexa user identifier and Alexa request identifier supplied by Amazon;
- the identifier and display name of the OpenClaw installation paired with that Alexa user;
- temporary pairing codes and their expiry times;
- the text Amazon provides for your spoken request, including names or other personal information you say;
- task titles, status, concise results, error messages, and creation and update timestamps;
- technical request, authentication, reliability, security, and diagnostic information; and
- information your paired OpenClaw accesses or creates while carrying out your command, as described in the OpenClaw privacy notice and the policies of connected services.
The bridge does not intentionally receive or store raw Alexa audio. Amazon may retain audio and transcripts according to your Alexa privacy settings.
4. Why we use information
We use information to authenticate Alexa requests; pair the correct Alexa user with the correct OpenClaw; submit, resume, report, and cancel tasks; prevent duplicate execution; provide spoken results; operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the Skill; investigate misuse or incidents; enforce applicable agreements; and comply with law.
5. OpenClaw and connected services
Your request is sent to the OpenClaw paired with the Skill. OpenClaw is a powerful, open-ended agent and may use AI model providers, tools, accounts, files, communications, or other services that you have authorized. Information may therefore be disclosed to those providers when needed to perform your request. Use least-privilege access and do not speak confidential, sensitive, or third-party information unless you are authorized to process and disclose it in this way.
6. Sharing and service providers
We may disclose information to Amazon as necessary to respond through Alexa; to AI model, hosting, infrastructure, networking, security, and support providers; to the services and people your command directs OpenClaw to contact; and where required to comply with law, protect rights or safety, investigate misuse, or complete a corporate transaction. We do not sell personal information. Providers may process information in Canada, the United States, or other countries, where it may be subject to local law.
7. Retention and deletion
The bridge stores pairings and task records so requests survive restarts and status requests can retrieve the latest task. We retain those records while reasonably needed to operate, secure, and support the Skill, unless a longer period is required for legal, fraud-prevention, dispute, or security purposes. Temporary unclaimed pairing codes normally expire after ten minutes.
Disabling the Skill in Alexa stops future use but may not automatically delete records already held by Amazon, the bridge, your OpenClaw, or connected services. To request deletion of Skill data associated with your Alexa account, contact [email protected]. We may need information from you to identify the pseudonymous Alexa user record and verify the request. You can separately manage or delete Alexa voice history through Amazon’s Alexa privacy settings. OpenClaw service cancellation and deletion are governed by the OpenClaw privacy notice.
8. Security
We use reasonable safeguards designed for the nature of the service, including verification of Alexa request signatures and timestamps in production, application-ID validation when configured, protected bridge-to-OpenClaw credentials, restricted file permissions, transport security, and access controls. No internet-connected or AI system is perfectly secure. A spoken command can be overheard, misunderstood, replayed, or issued by another person near an enabled device, and a powerful connected OpenClaw can take consequential actions. Configure Alexa voice profiles and purchasing controls where appropriate, restrict OpenClaw tools and permissions, and require separate confirmation for sensitive actions.
9. Children
The Skill is not directed to children under 13 and is intended for adults authorized to operate the paired OpenClaw. Do not enable or use it for a child’s account or knowingly provide children’s personal information through it without all legally required parental consent and safeguards.
10. Your choices and rights
You may stop using or disable the Skill at any time. Subject to applicable law and exceptions, you may ask to access, correct, or delete personal information under our control, or withdraw consent where processing relies on consent. Contact privacy officer Sean Bennett at [email protected] or 587-288-6116. You may also complain to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta or another regulator with jurisdiction.
11. Changes and contact
We may update this policy as the Skill, law, or our practices change. The date above identifies the current version. Material changes will be communicated where reasonably appropriate. Questions may be sent to 8Examples Inc., Calgary, Alberta, Canada at [email protected] or 587-288-6116.
